Projects
My dissertation project “Women Writers and Travel Writing in 1690-1760” seeks to recover the experiences of women’s travels represented in both factual and fictional accounts in British culture. My project fills up the lacunae of the current scholarship on women’s travel writing which focuses more on the late eighteenth- and nineteenth-century literature. By addressing the relatively understudied corpus of women’s travel writings, my dissertation illustrates British women’s widened geography with the improved transportation technology and also elucidates on how their increased mobility led to the increase of female travelers represented in literature and eventually to the development of novels in the early eighteenth century. Her research focuses on the works by Delarivier Manley, Mary Davys, Penelope Aubin, Jane Barker, Lady Mary Wortley Montagu, and so on. Upcoming Talks and Conferences
