Poetics and Poetry on Humanities Commons 7 years, 9 months agoThe literary relation between Parvin E’tesami and Walt Whitman remains a largely unexplored field. More specifically, its interest is with Brown’s presentation and treatment of the notion of time. Drawing on examples from a wide selection of his work, it is argued that Brown’s conve…[Read more]

Russell Millard deposited Musical Structure, Narrative, and Gender in Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé in the group
Music and Sound on Humanities Commons 7 years, 9 months agoThis thesis seeks to contribute towards the emerging discourse in Ravel studies concerning gender, as well as adding to the ongoing work in musical narratology, especially as regards ballet, to which very little narratological attention has been given. Employing a combination of narratological and Schenkerian analysis, this thesis argues that…[Read more]

Rebecca Ruth Gould deposited “Inimitability versus Translatability: The Structure of Literary Meaning in Arabo-Persian Poetics,” The Translator 19(1): 81-104. in the group
Poetics and Poetry on Humanities Commons 7 years, 9 months agoBuilding on the multivalent meanings of the Arabo- Persian tarjama (‘to interpret’, ‘to translate’, ‘to narrate’), this essay argues for the relevance of Qur’ānic inimitability (i’jāz) to contemporary translation theory. I examine how the translation of Arabic rhetorical theory (‘ilm al-balāgha) into Persian inaugurated new trends within the study…[Read more]

The Commons Room on Humanities Commons 7 years, 10 months agoIt appears that files cannot be edited once they are accepted into the core repository. Is that correct? Can adjustments be made so that files can be edited? Thanks again, Rebecca
-
Hi Rebecca, during a brief ‘provisional’ period, before the item is officially published, depositors can edit their deposit to make any corrections. (There should be a small green “edit” button beside the item’s status.) After that, you can send us an email if anything needs correcting. (More info here: https://hcommons-staging.org/core/faq/.)

Rebecca Ruth Gould posted an update in the group
The Commons Room on Humanities Commons 7 years, 10 months agoHi, it would be great if we could view more than 20 HC groups on one page as it can take a long time to scroll through the full list. I would prefer up to 100/page. Also would be great to sort by groups not a member of vs. a member of and public vs. private. Thanks, Rebecca
-
Thanks for these suggestions! We’re planning on making some changes to the interface in the coming months. In the interim, we should be able to implement a filter for public vs private sooner. There’s a filter already for “My Groups” (of which you’re a member) and “All Groups.” Would you want to see a different option there?
