Barbara Prior started the topic Share a room at the conference hotel? in the discussion
ARLIS/NA Ohio Valley Chapter on ARLISNA Commons 2 years, 11 months agoHello everyone!
The conference hotel is full; before I search for a room elsewhere I thought I would ask if anyone needs a roommate or wants to split the cost of a room with me? I’m easy to get along with, do not snore, have no annoying addictions and undemanding. 0:-D

ARLIS/NA Ohio Valley Chapter on ARLISNA Commons 2 years, 11 months agoHi OV chapter! I am so looking forward to seeing many of you in CDMX!
If we have no applicants again, I was thinking maybe we could consider saving this year’s funding in order to offer a larger amount as our chapter Travel Award next year — the award could potentially cover the whole conference registration fee for a new student or returning…[Read more]

Teaching SIG on ARLISNA Commons 2 years, 11 months agoI think these kinds of workshops are a great idea for the library. They draw students in and help them feel less intimidated by the library. “The library of the future” is innovative, and that includes unconventional activities. Some students feel uncomfortable coming to the staff and asking questions. Having informal workshops, or mind…[Read more]

Teaching SIG on ARLISNA Commons 2 years, 11 months agoHi Christine,
My library does a lot of these kinds of events. We’ve had puzzle, coloring and lego tables, whiteboard prompts on random topics for the students to write/draw their responses, therapy dogs, zine making etc. As you suggested, we view these as a way to make the library a welcoming community hub – not unlike the public library. It’s…[Read more]
