About
For his undergraduate studies, Austin Kaufmann went to Goshen College, a small liberal arts school, where he majored in secondary English education and minored in ESL. He earned his MA in TESOL from American University in Washington, DC. Austin has taught English to non-native speakers in public high schools in the U.S. and in Kyrgyzstan (with the US Peace Corps), at a private institute in Washington, DC, and in university programs in both Washington, DC, and in Seoul, South Korea. He has also taught in TESOL teacher-training programs both domestically and abroad. He has worked for MSU’s English Language Center since 2011. Austin’s professional interests include pronunciation, educational technology, online course design, and online language teacher training. In addition to teaching, Austin also serves as an Educational Technology Specialist and is a lead instructor for the
Online Language Teaching Initiative.
Language teacher and ed tech specialist by day, Austin moonlights as guitarist and singer for the indie-folk band
The Dangling Participles. He is married and elementary and middle school-aged children.
