I currently work for the TESOL/Applied Linguistics Program at Teachers College, Columbia University as interim director of the MA TESOL Program at the Japan Campus in Tokyo. My own research work has been on teacher and learner engagement in the language classroom. I’m working with a colleague in New York, Carolin Fuchs, on bringing innovative uses of technology into our teacher education courses. This summer, she and I will be teaching a co-designed course in both NY and Tokyo, with students having face-to-face sessions with us separately but sharing a single online platform. In addition, half of the meeting hours of the course will be assigned to asynchronous online activities.
