Wendelin Bitzan, PhD, is a musician, composer, and researcher in music. He graduated from the Berlin University of the Arts with degrees in piano, music education, sound engineering, and music theory. Subsequently he took up lectureships in music theory and ear training at music universities in Berlin, Rostock, and Detmold, and currently works as a lecturer in music theory at Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf. Wendelin regularly appears as a collaborative pianist, vocal accompanist, and performer of his own compositions. He is the author of several papers related to music theory and music education and holds a doctoral degree in musicology from the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts. Furthermore, he advocates for the interests of freelance musicians in professional associations and public media.
