ARLIS/NA Artist Files Special Interest Group on ARLISNA Commons 1 year, 11 months agoAmy,
Something I have frequently come across in our artist files is a situation where a married couple may work collaboratively, and also have their own solo practices. This gets even more complicated if there is a divorce and remarriage with a new collaboration. Our practice is to create separate files for each individual if they have solo w…[Read more]

ARLIS/NA Artist Files Special Interest Group on ARLISNA Commons 1 year, 11 months agoWe have a general rule for our Artist files that if there is a separate Library of Congress authority record for the artist (or group, or gallery, etc.) then it warrants it’s own file. For instance, when a gallery changes it’s name, if the LOC makes a new separate authority record for the new name, then we give it it’s own file. Today, I came…[Read more]

Amy Furness replied to the topic Deeds of Gift in the discussion
ARLIS/NA Artist Files Special Interest Group on ARLISNA Commons 2 years agoCommons seems to be cutting off your post after the first sentence or so, Amelia. I’m intrigued to hear more – we have not used a deed of gift at AGO even when inviting artist contributions, maybe because we discourage the inclusion of unique material. What is the scale of your collection, particularly the local artist component?

ARLIS/NA Academic Library Division on ARLISNA Commons 2 years, 1 month agoI can’t say whether or not I recommend it, but it looks like NYU has digital access to content from the print version, which appears to be more academic than the online only content, and would save you some shelf space.
