Stephen David Beck is the Derryl & Helen Haymon Professor of Composition and Computer Music at the LSU School of Music, and he holds a joint appointment at the Center for Computation & Technology. He currently serves as Associate Vice President in LSU’s Office of Research & Economic Development, where he supports research and creative activity in arts, humanities, and social and behavioral sciences. Beck’s research ranges from live performance of computer-mediated music, applications of virtual worlds, and new technologies for digital media arts. He is the founding director of the Laptop Orchestra of Louisiana.
