About

I am a marine archaeology consultant with RPS.

In a past role I was a marine geophysicist, analysing data for archaeology acquired from multiple instruments: multibeam echosounder (MBES), sidescan sonar, magnetometer, and sub-bottom profiler.

I am expanding on my doctoral research by exploring the natural and cultural hinterlands of the Saxon Shore forts through a bespoke project.

I am also a passionate educator. I have developed and am delivering several courses on archaeological principles, methods, and themes for Aberystwyth University Lifelong Learning (Available from the University’s online shop).

Education

PhD Landscape Archaeology, Institute of Archaeology, University College London, UK

Is anyone going to #DungeonCrawlerCarl live next March in London? Despite my ceaseless evangelism no one I know irl has started the series. I know there's a solid and committed community of DCC folks online but I don't know what to expect there! (2025-12-04 ↗)

Dear #Archaeology colleagues, A project I have had the privilege to be involved in is up for an award! Our work at the #AngloSaxon and #Medieval manor at Bosham is up for 'Research Project of the Year' in the Current Archaeology Awards 2026. We would appreciate your support. In addition, my excellent colleagues at Wessex Archaeology are up for 'Rescue Project of the Year' for their work on the wreck found on Sanday, Orkney. https://the-past.com/feature/from-bayeux-to-bosham-tracing-lordly-sites-in-medieval-england/ https://archaeology.co.uk/vote (2025-12-04 ↗)

I'm so pleased that a project I've been associated with is hitting the news! The results of my geophysical and UAV surveys fed into this wider project from Newcastle and Exeter Unis regarding in how elite residences changed during the period AD 800-1200 Through the consolidation of earlier excavation evidence, new ground-penetrating radar survey, and standing-building analysis, the outcome indicates surviving remnants of a genuine 11th-century structure on the site of the present (though later) Bosham Manor house.
