Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years agoHi Paolo, Yes, I have also tried premium and think the who is reading what is the best aspect of that service. I agree with your point about the user having control of his/her own “broadcast” vs “privacy” settings

Nicola Leoni deposited Le tumbe del Riminese in the group
Architectural History and Theory on Humanities Commons 9 years agoThe article deals with the tumba (or tomba) and with the diffusion of this building type in the medieval rural territory of Rimini. By tumba we normally mean a fortified settling of modest dimensions, built on high ground in order to protect cultivated areas: its characteristics are well described into the De Agricoltura, a treatise written by…[Read more]

Paolo Aranha replied to the topic Sort publication list in profile according to categories in the discussion
Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years agoIt’s true, the display of CORE items on the personal profiles is currently puzzling. In fact, even a little space between each item would be an improvement, as currently it all looks like like an indistinct mass of hyperlinks.

Paolo Aranha replied to the topic Embedding Capacity for CORE ala Scribd in the discussion
Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years agoThis is an excellent proposal! By the way, it wouldn’t be bad to introduce a “Like” function in Group Discussions like this. While I didn’t have much to add in substantial terms to Christopher Long’s proposal, I did want to express my support: a Facebook-style “Like” would serve the purpose!

Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years agoColin, I think your analysis is very accurate: one of the many problems with Academia.edu is the lack of discussion and interaction.
I also would like to have some enhanced Analytics on HC, although I also think we should undertake a reflection on the best balance between each one’s right to privacy and the undeniable utility of data on the…[Read more]

Émilie Pagé-Perron started the topic search by url in the discussion
Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years agoHi again,
If I check out someone’s profile and I click on their institution name, I get redirected to the members pages. I see the filtered search results for 1 or 2 seconds and then the display changes, I get all the people I follow, like there was no filter. The url is exactly the same as if I would have punched the institution name in the…[Read more]

Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years agoÉmilie,
In the buttons at the top of the group’s page, you should see a “Send Invites” button. If you don’t, it’s possible that the group’s admin has turned off the ability for other members to invite people. If that’s the case, you could either message them or use the invitation button on the hcommons-staging.org homepage and edit the text of…[Read more]

Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years, 2 months agoNicky,
Is there any functionality which allows upload of a gallery of images to a group (e.g. maps, photographs, engravings)?
Not urgent.

Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years, 2 months agoThanks Nicky,
Glad you are looking at facets.
The alphabetical sort option still means then paging through lots of HTML pages. An alphabetical facet would have one page with 24 buttons, each with an ascending letter, which would then go to all “A” names, all “B” names etc.
Best regards, Colin

Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years, 2 months agoHi there,
Unfortunately some of what you’re asking for here would require Academia.edu to have an API that we could interface with, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
We’ll look into the various options for importing contacts from social media sites, but again that is probably going to require those sites to be open to us interacting with…[Read more]

Colin Greenstreet replied to the topic Members search in the discussion
Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years, 2 months agoI agree. Member search is cumbersome at the moment. Simple improvements, such as faceted search by A-Z and by geography would help, e.g. a single page with links to all members in US, in England, in X…; a single page with listing of A-Z.
It would also be very useful to be able to invite all followers on Academia.edu to join Humanities…[Read more]
