      Greetings Mark and Matt.

I noticed the nice round blue logo image when I clicked the link in Mark’s recent email. When I actually logged in to this group, that image did not appear. I wonder why.

      Cheers,
      Bob

Thanks Nicky! I’m glad you hopped in, since we were thinking we might want to be in touch w/ you all on the project side.

I posted the note earlier this a.m., and here, 3 hrs later, I did have to log back in again, and yes, it’s not exactly straightforward to get back to the thread. For us, I do believe we’d like to be able to click on “reply” in the email notice and be taken directly to the reply area of the thread. If logging in is needed prior to that, we’d ask for the redirect to be automatic. Seems like this would be pretty easy to do, since the link in the email DOES go to the right spot if I’m logged in.

One site I use has a list with the heading “things you’ve recently viewed” that shows up when I log in. This would be nice at HC.

While searching for the thread I tried “Activity” (left menu) and was surprised to be shown ALL activity, not just my own. (Actually, none of my own appeared at a glance.) I didn’t find the recent activity useful, speaking personally. It sort of assumes a relatively narrow range of topics, perhaps?

You ask about email conversations. We are currently in a Listserv setup, which we’re finding less than satisfactory (Listserv is pretty outmoded, we felt). I suppose that having an email-based conversation might be useful for HC, but if so, we’d strongly advocate for it to mirror the HC web site forum-style presentation, i.e. we’d not wish for it to be a “sidebar conversation” that wasn’t shared on the thread.

Seems to me that if the connection between the email “reply” link and the website thread were made more direct/easy, we’d be fine with that.

      Thanks again for asking!

      Bob

Yes, it isn’t perfect, re getting back to the discussion. I clicked “reply” on the email notice and couldn’t since I wasn’t logged in. Once logged in, it was hard to find my way back to the conversation. I just went back to the email and clicked reply again, and (since I was logged in) came straight here.

And even so, getting back to the relevant conversation should not be such a winding pathway. I.e. it won’t be easy to maintain a conversation if our impatient users can’t do this more quickly.

BTW I added tags to my pedantic reply above; did the tags show up in any meaningful way for you?

Could I ask you to be more specific with your question please? Did you wish to specify a location (e.g. how many did he write while in Vienna)? Or a time period (e.g. how many did he write before 1800)? Or mode (major or minor)? Or key (F major, D minor, etc.)? Once I know exactly what you wish to know, I think I may be able to help further.

      Thanks in advance.

      (Yes, I’m kidding…)
