This PowerPoint can be used to accompany a creative writing workshop in an intermediate or advanced French language class. It serves as an introduction to French literature and notions of style, which will be important once the students have satisfied their language requirements, as well as a tool for creative student production in the target language.

Literary scholars’ conversations about distant reading have spent too much time pitting it against close reading, and not enough time understanding connections to other disciplines.
