All set—the unwanted posts have been removed. (I had already removed the two in Postcolonial Studies based on your first message—sorry for the confusion!)
Best,

Welcome Group on MLA Commons 12 years, 1 month agoDear Katina,
I would very much appreciate your deleting those posts. There is one under Women’s Studies and under Gay Studies, both titled “Join the Women’s Caucus at MLA!”
Weirdly enough, the two in Postcolonial Studies are gone.
With thanks,
Michelle

Welcome Group on MLA Commons 12 years, 1 month agoHi Michelle,
Only group administrators can delete forum posts. More information on why that’s the case is available on our FAQ page, along with more details about why those unwanted characters appear in your post and how to prevent it from happening in the future.
I’d be happy to delete the unwanted posts for you. You can then re-post the same…[Read more]

Katina Rogers replied to the topic Duplicate topic detected message in the forum
Welcome Group on MLA Commons 12 years, 1 month agoHi Michelle,
The system won’t allow you to post an identical message in multiple groups. The easiest way to work around this is to add a unique sentence to the beginning of the post for each group—for instance, “The following announcement may be of interest to members of the [XYZ] group.” One unique word in the post should be enough to prevent t…[Read more]

Welcome Group on MLA Commons 12 years, 1 month agoI just figured out the HTML and Word paste issue, but as I try to send an announcement to the forum section of groups to which I belong, I am getting the following message: “Duplicate topic detected; it looks as though you’ve already said that!” There is no original message posted, so there can be no duplicate. I’ve tried re-titling the top…[Read more]

Welcome Group on MLA Commons 12 years, 3 months agoHi Michael,
The most common reason to see formatting code or HTML in a post is when the text has been copied (usually from Microsoft Word) into the visual editor on MLA Commons. The best way to avoid it in the future is to use the text editor, rather than the visual editor. More information is available in this FAQ post.
The Commons doesn’t s…[Read more]

Welcome Group on MLA Commons 12 years, 3 months agoI’ve posted a couple of times in my Groups’ forums (Shakespeare and Digital Humanities), and there are two issues:
1 / Some of my posts are full of html tags that I didn’t intend.
2 / When I noticed a typo in one of my posts, I couldn’t go in to edit/correct it.
Any suggestions?
