MLA has tentatively approved a new forum for Literacy Studies under the Rhetoric and Writing Studies group, but it needs 35 MLA members to sign the petition by June 15 in order for the forum to make for the 2014 year. Currently, 8 people have signed the petition, which is located here:…[Read more]

Prospective Forum: HEP Program Administration on MLA Commons 11 years, 9 months agoWe left it open precisely so MLA members could determine the scope. It could be about writing programs only, or it could include language program admins, DGSs, DUSs, and so on (so the sessions could vary year after year at the convention).

I’m struck by the juxtaposition here of Thom Bryce’s paper on grindr and Cheryl Higashida’s earlier cfp for the special issue on ‘Sexing the Left’. Arguably, the former demonstrates the timeliness, and urgency, of the latter.
