ARLIS/NA Materials SIG on ARLISNA Commons 3 years agoThanks for speaking up, Tara! 🙂
My vote is May 2 or May 3 at 12pm, 1pm, or 2pm CDT.
As 11am CDT is 9am Pacific, I know it’s a rush to be right on time that early. Thoughts?

Tara Spies Smith replied to the topic SIG coordinator and date preferences for virtual spring meeting in the discussion
ARLIS/NA Materials SIG via email on ARLISNA Commons 3 years agoHi Shannon!
Thank you for stepping up to be the SIG coordinator!
I would prefer May 3rd at 11, 12, 1, 2, or 3 for the meeting. I could also do May 2nd or 1st in the afternoon. This first week of May works better for me as it is closer to the end of the semester and to finals.
Thank you,
Tara

ARLIS/NA Graphic Novels, Comics, and Zines SIG on ARLISNA Commons 3 years agoWhat has the pandemic work-life experience been for library workers who have caregiving responsibilities? As reports trickle into popular media about the perilously strained state of working parents, we look to our membership to ask: how are librarian caregivers holding up, moving forward, and making change in the workplace? ARLIS/NA Materials SIG on ARLISNA Commons 3 years, 1 month agoHi Shannon and Siobhan,
Thanks for starting and continuing this discussion.
I have a six-month sabbatical during the first half of 2024 devoted to the generation of a handbook for materials collections. It’s only very loosely conceived at this point and I’ll have some research leave in 2023 to plot it out further. BUT it would be great to add…[Read more]

I’m at the same stage in developing a materials collection at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Best,

ARLIS/NA Materials SIG on ARLISNA Commons 3 years, 1 month agoHey everyone,
I’m interested (as are the faculty) in starting at material sample collection as part of my new role at the University of Southern California. I’ve just started browsing the literature and notice that, while there are articles and book chapters that summarize planning and promoting a collection, there is little specificity in regard…[Read more]

ARLIS/NA Book Art SIG on ARLISNA Commons 3 years, 3 months agoHi all,
I’m trying to gather information about artists’ books catalog record remediation projects. There is some published literature about this (ex., Dyer & Hibben’s “Developing a Book Art Genre Headings Index” in Art Documentation 31:1, or Carter & O’Keefe’s “Revealing Invisible Collections” in AD 37:2), but I expect that there are many p…[Read more]
