Rylands Persian MS 27, a Bahāristān of Jāmī once held in the Mughal library bears this unsual marking on folio 1b, adjacent to the header. Have any of you encountered such a marking previously? I wonder if it might possibly be some sort of stylized, undotted Yā Kabīkaj formula? What do you think?

Arabic script manuscripts on Humanities Commons 3 years agoTerrific news for non-Latin script specialists: Archive.org will take advantage of new advancements in OCR to reprocess printed multi-script manuscript catalogues, which currently misinterpret non-Latin scripts as gibberish.
