In recent years it has been recognized that Proust profoundly influences different Spanish narrators (see H. Craig, also for Latin American literature), and in this work it is shown how in the syntax, the type of narrator, the construction of the scene and other aspects in Juan Benet’s narrative show the Prustian influence.

Franz Kafka is one of the most influential writers in Spanish narrative since the post-war period, from the beginnings of the work of Carmen Martín Gaite, to Enrique Vila-Matas, one of the most widely translated and well-known current novelists.

With the support of recent theorizing in evolutionary biology and anthropology, this essay refurbishes the term archetype for reuse, recognizing that it signals a painful cognitive failure. Examples are taken from The Terminator movies and pictures of the annunciation to Mary.
