History on Humanities Commons 4 years agoThere were six waves of regionalism in Western Europe and Russia: in the decades of the 1830s, the 1860s, the 1890s, the 1920s, the 1970s and the 1990s. Russian regions were not behind Western European ones but rather went through the same stages of development at the same time or sometimes even earlier, until after the Stalin era, when they did…[Read more]

Emma Gallon replied to the topic New editions of OA books in the discussion
Open Access Books Network on Humanities Commons 4 years agoHi John, Hi Lucy,
Many thanks to you both! The archiving approach described by Lucy and Sebastian sounds to be a good way forward (and I’ll drop Ellen a quick email as I’d be keen to hear her perspective too – thanks).
All best,

Lucy Barnes replied to the topic New editions of OA books in the discussion
Open Access Books Network on Humanities Commons 4 years agoHi Emma,
My colleague Laura at OBP confirms that our approach is similar to Sebastian’s. We:
– Archive old editions (and state ‘Archived’ on the title. See: https://www.openbookpublishers.com/product/1096)
– Delete prices and purchase options to avoid readers purchasing an edition that is not up to date.
– Provide back and forward links between…[Read more] -

Marek Kryda deposited The Viking Age Amulet Box with the Goats of the God Thor from Biskupin, Poland in the group
Archaeology on Humanities Commons 4 years agoPoland has been recognized as important in the widespread migration of the Vikings, yet subject to little theoretical inquiry. I became particularly interested in the ways in which the Vikings in Poland understood and negotiated their world. To my knowledge, nobody has drawn together the pan-European evidence about the image of the two mythical…[Read more]

Emma Gallon started the topic New editions of OA books in the discussion
Open Access Books Network on Humanities Commons 4 years, 1 month agoHello and happy new year! I was wondering if anybody has any experience in publishing new editions of open access books, and would be happy for me to get in touch about this? I have a couple of questions about best practice specifically for OA books around taking down the old edition from third-party and our platforms (or not!) and it would be…[Read more]
