I hold a BA (Hons) and a D.Phil. in music from the University of Oxford and an MMus in musicology from King’s College London. My doctoral work investigated the jeu-parti, a genre of sung debate practised in Northern France in the thirteenth century. With a particular focus on thirteenth-century French song, my research explores the practices of and culture surrounding medieval song. I am especially interested in the analysis of medieval song, aesthetics and musical manuscripts. My current project explores the relationship between music and violence in thirteenth-century French song. Education
