    thank you Brenna!

I felt like the small businesses example helped me put the idea of sharing your story/process into a less-terrifying light and your response brings out the benefits of sharing the process along with the finished product. your statement that hearing others’ stories inspiring you is exactly what scholars and the general public…[Read more]

    Hi Sara!
I feel that the push to make the public humanities more accessible/legible to the general public is absolutely needed to further broaden the community and help people share experiences. I notice in almost every academic reading, even those that harp on the need for legibility and communication between the scholars and the public, make…[Read more]

I personally find the idea of sharing my “process” instead of just my finished product laughable. To share a work in progress with friends is difficult enough and those are people I know will be kind and supportive with whatever I come up with. The fear of ridicule or worse, the disappointment in being completely misunderstood or feeling like you…[Read more]

    • Jen,

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

YES – the risk of sharing your work and your process is real. Especially when sharing with strangers online. Trolls and rude people are unfortunately part of the territory (I have some stories of getting negative responses and reviews, as I’m sure most people do when engaging with the public online).…[Read more]

    • Hi Jen!

I actually laughed at the first part of your post that posting your process as opposed to your finished product would be laughable because I totally agree. I honestly can not imagine what people would think of my process rather than my completed project either. I like how you related that sharing your process as it happens makes your…[Read more]

    • Hi Jen,

I am impressed with what you said about what writers/creators struggle with: creativity is an indispensable human need. Also, how the incomplete product (process) and the complete product play a role in influencing what one says is crucial. But isn’t the incompleteness of something a prerequisite for its development? Of course, this is…[Read more]
