Hannes Obermair is a Senior Researcher at Eurac Research, the European Academy of Bozen-Bolzano (South Tyrol, Italy). He is serving as Philosopher-in-Residence at the Head Office.
From 2009 until 2017 he was Head of the Civic Archives of Bozen-Bolzano. He is Lecturer of Contemporary History at the University of Innsbruck. He is also co-founder and co-editor of “Geschichte and Region/Storia e regione”, a bilingual historical review first published in 1992.
He has written on medieval literacy, urban history, history of the Alps, and the dissonant heritage of the fascist and nazi period. His publications have appeared in refereed journals and academic books. His latest book publications are the co-edited volumes A Land on the Threshold (2017), Mythen der Diktaturen (2019), Lavori in Corso (2020), and Großdeutschland ruft! (2020).
