Henry Wijaya is a graduate of Master of Arts in International Educational Development program at Teachers College, Columbia University. He got his Bachelor Degree in English Language Teaching from the Faculty of Language and Literature at Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana (UKSW) in Salatiga, Central Java, Indonesia in 2007.
In the past, Henry taught English as a lecturer at UKSW’s Faculty of Language and Literature, and taught Indonesian language at UKSW’s Language Training Center. In the latter, he was involved at two major Indonesian language programs, namely the Consortium for the Teaching of Indonesian (COTI) and the Indonesian Language and Culture Intensive Program (Program Intensif Bahasa dan Budaya Indonesia or PIBBI). In 2010, he got the opportunity to teach Indonesian language at the Language Resource Center, Columbia University as Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant. Meanwhile, in 2016, he was sent by Pusat Pengembangan Strategi dan Diplomasi Kebahasaan (PPSDK) from the Indonesian government to teach Indonesian language in Guangzhou, China.
His academic and research interests encompass peace & human rights education, comparative policy & policy planning, teacher education, and curriculum and material development. In his leisure time, he loves reading, drawing, listening to and playing music, and writing poems & short stories.
Following his love for teaching, he currently works as a lecturer at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies in Guangzhou, China, teaching Indonesian language to his beloved, highly-motivated undergraduate students.
