In this activity, students remediate content originally published as a written text into an image or graphic for a social media platform such as Instagram.

Remediation assignments, which are especially popular in multimodal composition courses, task students with taking material presented in one medium, considering and preserving its essence, key features, or main idea, and transforming it into another medium that can reach a new audience and leverage the affordances of new modes of communication and digital tools. It takes time, practice, and creativity for students to develop the digital skills needed to produce multimodal compositions.
