Graduated from Composition and Musicology Department (1986) and postgraduate (1993) at Gnesin Russian Academy of Music. Ph.D (1993, Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine).  PhD thesis is devoted to problems of the theory of structural poetics of a music work and based on the music of contemporary composers. Doctoral studies in Kharkiv National Kotlyarevsky University of Arts (2018). Since 2000 – associate professor of Music Theory Department, Kharkiv National Kotlyarevsky University of Arts (Ukraine). Areas of scientific interest are: theory of counterpoint and the history of counterpoint, non-imitative polyphony, musical analysis, theory of narrative in music, Ukrainian music.
