Elizabeth Holt is Associate Professor of Arabic at Bard College, where she teaches courses at the Center for Ethics and Writing. She is a founding member of the Translation and Translatability Initiative at Bard, and author of *Fictitious Capital: Silk, Cotton, and the Rise of the Arabic Novel* (Fordham UP 2017), and more recent articles on the cultural Cold War, Palestine, and comparative studies of energy and the humanities.
