I am a philosopher and arts writer. My research focuses on representation, modeling practices, classification and taxonomy, scientific images, and explanation in the mind/brain sciences. I also work on topics in the visual arts, especially depiction and the limits of pictorial representation, the genealogy of modernism, and the relationships between images and words. Education
