About

With the experience of being a researcher and an educator in multidisciplinary academic environments across three different continents, my research and teaching interrogates cultural narratives of/about dominant technologies, their genealogies, mediations, and fallouts. My core interest(s) advance data-driven scholarly interventions, particularly in Digital Media and Culture(s), which amplify and dialogue with non-normative and minority subjectivities as well as the interconnected structural inequities of race, caste, class and gender, especially from Majority World/Global South contexts.

I am the current Vice-President and founding member of India’s first Digital Humanities collective: the Digital Humanities Alliance for Research and Teaching Innovations (DHARTI), previously Digital Humanities Alliance of India (DHAI), and have spearheaded the inaugural DHAI Conference in 2018 (#DHAI2018), the first DHARTI Twitter Conference (#DHARTITwitterConf) as well as the recently concluded #DHARTI2022 Conference on The Digital Divides: Discontents, Debates and Discussions.

Met curator colleagues of the Manchester "Baby" and the Jacquard Loom at the Manchester Science and Industry Museum last week. Excited for the student field trip as part of my new course/module on Algorithmic & Networked Cultures @universityofleeds. Shoutout to @datasociety@mastodon.social collaborators who are essential readings for this course. (Relevant Links in comment below) (2023-10-15 ↗)

Delighted to contribute the entry on "Digital Humanities" with Dr. Aditya Deshbandhu to "The Year's Work in Critical and Cultural Theory." Any act of disciplinary curation is always difficult but we have tried to cover a wide range of scholars and viewpoints including @datasociety@mastodon.social and @turinginst@tweets.icu Thank you to the editors for the care and #digitalhumanities colleagues across the world from whom we learn everyday. https://doi.org/10.1093/ywcct/mbad015 (if you face a paywall and need a copy drop me a note) (2023-08-05 ↗)

Sigh of relief to note after today's session that my knowledge of memes is at least in the same ball park as that of my students! (2023-02-28 ↗)

First post/status on mastodon (confused about the "status" of "posts" here?). Looking to learn and connect with friends and colleagues working on #digitalhumanities, #digitalcultures, and #algorithms! (2022-11-07 ↗)
