Katina Rogers replied to the topic Coverage of Alt-Ac Sessions at MLA in the forum
Alt-Academics on MLA Commons 13 years agoGood idea, Brian; thanks for starting this.
Here are a couple of articles that are less squarely focused on the panels about alt-ac careers, but still relevant to this group:

Katina Rogers started the topic Sessions of Interest to Alt-Academics at MLA13 in the forum
Alt-Academics on MLA Commons 13 years, 1 month agoHi all, I don’t think I’ve seen a round-up of sessions related to alt-ac careers and concerns. Here are a few that have caught my eye; please add others that I may have missed!

As I look forward to heading to Boston this afternoon, I’m thinking about all the ways people might use this space during the convention itself. For instance, is anyone considering posting slides (or a link to slides) so that session attendees can follow along? Might be helpful for accessibility if people can’t easily see projected materials.
-
That’s an interesting idea. I typically post my presentations on my site after I’ve given them, but making it available during the presentation could be useful.
-
That’s what I usually do, too. My slides aren’t particularly useful without some text to go along with them, but I know it’s unpleasant to be at the back of a room and unable to see what’s up on the screen. Not sure I’ll manage to post my own in advance this year, but something to think about for next year!

Beta Testers on MLA Commons 13 years, 1 month agoI’m still finding my way around the MLA Commons website, but I’m already enjoying making new connections across disciplines, chatting with my fellow BETA testers, and reading all the new additions Kathleen is making. I must say that I am particularly enjoying the category “News from the MLA.” I regularly glance at this section on the MLA.org…[Read more]
