About

Dave is an educator at heart who believes in the passion and inventiveness of all educators. He helps curricular partner groups and teams translate between ‘design speak’ and ‘educator speak’ by fostering the conditions for great learning experience design solutions to emerge. Dave’s projects, courses, and workshops are centered on advancing more active, engaged, successful, and valuable learning experiences. He understands that creating new ways to collaborate, learn, research, and deliver instruction happens through good conversations and storytelling.


 

Prior to joining the Hub, Dave was a science teacher and instructional designer in organizations spanning K-20+ as well as in the private sector. He facilitates educator workshops and is an educator in MSU’s College of Education. Mostly, he likes to drink coffee with a book or guitar in front of fireplaces.

Education

Dave earned a BA in Secondary Science Education, from Cornerstone University, Grand Rapids, Michigan, an MEd in Instructional Design for Online Learning Specialization, from Capella University, Minneapolis, Minnesota and is currently a PhD student in MSU’s Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education program right here in East Lansing, Michigan. His wife Lindsay and he live in Jackson, Michigan, where they try to keep up with three very active and young boys. Sometimes they go fishing or hiking and eat tacos.
