    About

As a U.S. cultural historian trained in the interdisciplinary field of American Studies, I work at the intersections of digital humanities, museum studies, and public history so it is important to set out the unifying principles behind my research. Attentiveness to the collaborative processes by which communities produce, share, and contest knowledge is the throughline that connects my work on such topics as: the histories and prospects of museums as participants in civic discourse; the impacts of applying a design-based, inquiry-driven, collaboration-first workflow to the production of scholarly communications; the role of museum exhibitions in forming supranational imaginaries during wartime; and learning-centered applications of digital media to facilitate new ways of engaging with museum and archival collections. As associate director of research for the Mellon Foundation-funded Greenhouse Studios, I draw on my past career in public communications and publishing; that prior work includes development of ConnecticutHistory.org, an award-winning state public history project in collaboration with Connecticut Humanities, and editorial positions in the arts, history, and medical fields.
