Original project manager in the now defunct former library unit that hosted this has retired! One of our issues is that personnel have turned over and institutional structures have changed. That said, I do believe that the UNC Library is committed to keeping the project going. I will check with my colleagues there about interest in / usefulness of a workshop like this for them. Who knows, maybe they already have a long-term plan I don’t know about! I know they are in the middle of some other (much bigger) technological migrations in the library as well, so it may be that this isn’t a moment when anyone can focus on this. But I’ll check into it! Thanks for the info.

Hi Aisling, great. My question is this: I am interested in the Sustaining DH workshop at GT, but am not sure if my situation is appropriate to consider applying. I am scholarly advisor for a digital project that launched (supported by the UNC Libraries at Chapel Hill) in 2011 (digital Blue Ridge Parkway). When the project was launched, I was also a full-time UNC-Chapel Hill employee (not in the library or on the faculty, tho, but alt-ac), but now I no longer work there beyond an adjunct faculty appointment for periodic teaching. The project, meanwhile, continues to be maintained and supported (but not further developed) by the Libraries, but the larger DH infrastructure that was in place when it was created has been disbanded. Both I and the Libraries are aware that a plan needs to be made for the project’s future, but we have not had the ability to really give systematic thought to that or lay any plans. I imagine that in the larger Library environment, the staff has thoughts about the future sustainability of this and several other projects that date from the era when mine was created, but I’m not really a part of those discussions.  And of course I no longer have a firm employment platform from which to propose that anyone do anything about this particular project at UNC. All of that said, I would very much like to engage in some systematic strategic planning for the project, as I do feel responsible for it and would like to see at least basic functionality retained. Ideally I’d like this conversation to be had in conjunction with at least one partner from the UNC Library if I could get them to agree to participate. Would our situation be appropriate for the workshop?  If there are other details I can provide that will help you answer, I am happy to do so.

Hi, is anyone out there for the “virtual office hours”? I have a query about the Georgia Tech institute! Can also move to Slack if that’s better.
