The yatga is one of the Mongolian national plucked stringed instruments with the ancient origin, which dates back more than 2000 years. Art researcher J.Badraa[1] explained the meaning of the word yatga “that the yatga derives from the word “Itugan” with the meaning “magic, vigour and power”. Art researcher S.Soronzonbold[2] also explained that the yatga is a name of the suverior heaven”. From the Hun period to the present time the mongols used the yatga under 36 names. The reason of its many names and types is that the researchers differently wrote the name of the yatga as a great yatga, an applied yatga and an agar yatga in the Cyrillic letters. They some times gave a new name to the yatga. So art researcher S.Soronzonbold noted in his book “A reason of the yatga to be the Heaven’s instrument that we should follow the book of G.Badrakh “From the history of the Mongolian musical instruments edited by B.Rinchen”.
