The Society for Music Theory’s Autographs and Archival Documents Interest Group promotes scholarship that relies on sketches and other archival documents for analysis. We also support the creation of courses on this topic. This interest group was inaugurated at the 2016 Annual Meeting of the Society for Music Theory in Vancouver. Patricia Hall was the founding chair. The current co-chairs of the group are Laura Emmery and Áine Heneghan.

Dear colleagues and members of the AADIG,

Below is a message from Richard Beaudoin which is likely to be of great concern to our Interest Group. Please note the invitation to contribute to the Google Document and to circulate it as appropriate.

The Paddock Music Library at Dartmouth College has just been closed — permanently — without consulting or informing anyone in the Music Department. I am compelled to share with you the ever-growing googledoc related this sudden and deeply-concerning event. Understanding that you are pressed for time, I would urge that you read my colleague and Music Department Chair Will Cheng’s letter which begins the document. The testimonies that follow (from students, faculty, staff, and alumni) are frank and rather extraordinary:

I respectfully ask that you share widely with librarians and scholars and please contribute to the document as you see fit. In solidarity, all best, Richard
