The Society for Music Theory’s Autographs and Archival Documents Interest Group promotes scholarship that relies on sketches and other archival documents for analysis. We also support the creation of courses on this topic. This interest group was inaugurated at the 2016 Annual Meeting of the Society for Music Theory in Vancouver. Patricia Hall was the founding chair. The current co-chairs of the group are Laura Emmery and Áine Heneghan.

      Hello everyone,
      I hope this email finds you well. In preparation for the annual meeting of SMT (jointly with AMS and SEM) in New Orleans in November, Phil and I wanted to touch base with you about some things.
      1. We have not heard from anyone who is able to go to the Hogan Archive on Thursday morning to learn more about the special collections there. Please let us know by August 30 if you would like to go.
      2. SMT is having a video recording initiative, including recording interest group meetings for asynchronous viewing. They are asking for a volunteer in each meeting to do the recording. Would anyone be willing to commit to recording our interest group meeting so that it can be archived?
      3. Phil and I have been working on by-laws for our group. We will be circulating them to you in advance of the meeting for your input. We hope to vote on them at the meeting in New Orleans.
      4. We have also been talking about a special session proposal for the 2023 meeting in Denver, and will have more information and discussion about that in New Orleans.
      5. Since we have a fair amount of business to attend to in New Orleans, we are thinking that rather than formal lightning talks, that we will have more informal sharing of current projects and discussion about what we might want the group to do in the future.
      6. If you have any other thoughts or concerns, please share them with me and/or Phil.
      If you haven’t had a chance to view the schedule, we are meeting on Thursday, November 10 from 7:30–9 p.m. in the Parish room. Please come ready to share.
