The Post-1945 Music Analysis Interest Group is a discursive space for scholars of music after 1945, with an emphasis on the modernist, experimental, and avant-garde. Through its annual meetings and online communications, the group aims to strengthen, support, and develop its members’ ideas and sense of community. It also seeks to bring attention to and foster scholarship on post-1945 music both within the Society for Music Theory and in music scholarship at large.

Hello Post-1945 Music Analysis Interest Group!

This is a brief message to ask you about two things. First, as you may have seen recently from SMT-Announce, the society is soliciting volunteers to video-record conference sessions and interest group meetings. We need a volunteer to record our meeting (early Saturday afternoon). If you are able to help in this endeavor, please let us know with a quick email (william.ayers@ucf.edu) or by responding to this message. Volunteers should submit their information at the following link by September 2: https://forms.gle/<wbr />wbyKz9nJVVFmyepw9.

Second, following our bylaws, the position of Webmaster should be up for an election this year. Our current Webmaster, Noah Kahrs, is willing to continue serving in this position, but we (Noah included) wanted to check with the membership in case anyone else has a desire to serve in this capacity. If you are interested in this opportunity, please let me know with an email (william.ayers@ucf.edu) including your information.

We’ll have more information about our conference events over the next couple weeks, so be on the lookout for another message soon!

      My best,

      Will
