The Post-1945 Music Analysis Interest Group is a discursive space for scholars of music after 1945, with an emphasis on the modernist, experimental, and avant-garde. Through its annual meetings and online communications, the group aims to strengthen, support, and develop its members’ ideas and sense of community. It also seeks to bring attention to and foster scholarship on post-1945 music both within the Society for Music Theory and in music scholarship at large.

      Hi all!

I’m very much looking forward to seeing all of you in Denver for our meeting! As previously announced, our planned session (Considering Electronic and Synthesized Sound) will include presentations by Kate Mancey, Noah Kahrs, and Jennifer Iverson. I hope you are all as excited as I am about these presentations, which will take place on Friday, November 10, at 12:30 PM (following our brief business meeting).

In preparation for our upcoming elections, which will take place after the conference via online ballot, we are soliciting nominations for two co-chair positions for the Post-1945 Music Analysis Interest Group. Please send a message to me (william.r.ayers@gmail.com) if you would like to nominate yourself or someone else for one of the co-chair positions.

      My best,
      Will
