      Exploring the challenges associated with the publication of public and publicly engaged humanities scholarship, this paper is the product of a working group convened in February 2020 by Routledge, Taylor & Francis and the National Humanities Alliance. In the course of our group’s work and outlined in the paper we have identified and discussed model practices for publishing on public and publicly engaged humanities work in higher education. As the field of public humanities grows, it is critical that scholarly communications adapt to capture the methodologies and outcomes of these initiatives and the diverse, often digital, outputs created.

      We welcome comments and discussion on the challenges and model practices outlined in the paper and look forward to continuing the conversation about public humanities and publication.
