The International Association for the Study of Scottish Literatures (IASSL) has given us the following information:

      1. We are offering a free three-year membership for PhD students working on topics in Scottish literatures and languages.  This offer is partly a response to the economic hardships of postgraduate study, which have been exacerbated by the pandemic; but it also reflects the Executive Committee’s desire to foster the involvement of early-career researchers in IASSL.  The membership form for PhD students is located here: https://www.iassl.org/join-iassl-1.  If you’re advising any postgraduate students working on relevant topics please share this opportunity with them!
      2. The call for submissions and nominations for the 2021 Jack Medal is now open.  Updated information about the medal and instructions on how to submit or nominate an essay are available here:https://www.iassl.org/the-jack-medal.

We have a new website at http://www.iassl.org where you can find out more about these initiatives and other ongoing projects, or you can email us at scotlit-iassl@glasgow.ac.uk with any questions you might have.
