MSA members are warmly invited to attend a symposium on

Picasso and Musical Modernity (c.1900-1940) / Picasso y el Modernismo Musical (c.1900-1940), hosted by the 15th Symposium FIMTE and the University of Melbourne, and in hybrid format (in person and online)

Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) was a witness and frontline actor of the music currents developing in Barcelona, Paris, and other sites prior to World War II. This symposium will explore the mutual influences between the Visual arts (particularly in the orbit of Picasso) and Music, and how aspects of musical modernity emerged through the negotiation of different cultural, technical and stylistic parameters.

Symposium committee: Luisa Morales (FIMTE – Universitat de Lleida); Michael Christoforidis (University of Melbourne)

Keynote speakers: Caroline Potter (Royal Birmingham Conservatoire), Walter Clark (University or Riverside), Ruth Piquer (Universidad Complutense, Madrid), Cécile Godefroy (Musée Picasso, Paris)
