The Music Library Association invites proposals for books to be published in the MLA Technical Reports and Monographs in Music Librarianship Series. Since 1973, the series has produced thorough, in-depth, professional resources covering various aspects of music librarianship. We welcome proposals or manuscripts on topics addressing trends in music research, the history of music librarianship, new media technology, metadata and cataloging issues, collection development, preservation, and facilities management are always welcome. Early-career and first-time authors are encouraged to contact the editor with ideas or questions about publishing in this series.

Additionally, we are interested in receiving manuscripts and preliminary ideas on topics that include, but are not limited to, leading in times of uncertainty, developing inclusive pedagogy, critical cataloging and race, and antiracist collection development strategies.

Guidelines for submitting to the MLA Monographic Series can be found at https://www.musiclibraryassoc.org/resource/resmgr/mono_series-proposal_guideli.pdf.

The most recent titles in the series are Information Literacy in Music: An Instructor\’s Guide edited by Beth Christensen, Erin Conor, and Marian Ritter (vol. 35, 2018), A Music Librarian\’s Guide to Creating Videos and Podcasts by Katie Buehner and Andrew Justice (vol. 36, 2018), and Music Research Data Management by Amy Jackson and Sean Luyk (vol. 37, 2020). Forthcoming additions to the series will include volumes on notes for music catalogers, careers in music libraries, and managing institutional recordings.

A list of titles published in the series is available at https://www.musiclibraryassoc.org/page/techreports.

Subscriptions to the series may be made by contacting A-R Editions at  orders@areditions.com.

All submissions and inquiries should be directed to the series editor:
