      It would be wonderful (albeit lazy) if one could import documents/publications from one’s profile on (say) Academia.edu, Mendeley and ResearchGate.  Any hope of that?

      Other options would be Google Scholar and ORCID. ORCID has a sort of API, I assume, so that might be the most straightforward (as you already ask people to enter their ORCID IDs).
