Featherflu™ is a nonprofit student-led research foundation which exists to study & develop novel solutions to ameliorate the species-level extinction risks & other existential threats to non-poultry wild birds posed by the current strain of HPAI H5N1 avian influenza presently wreaking havoc on North American wild birds.

The specific goals of our research are to discover and implement preservation strategies for wild bird species that were already critically endangered before the present bird flu epidemic. Featherflu™ has a special research focus on the California Condor, other falconiformes, and other at-risk wild bird species.
All Featherflu™ scientific research, preservation initiatives, & direct field-based conservation efforts are designed and led by high school and college students with mentor support from practicing veterinarians, wildlife biologists, clinical biochemists, and university professors serving as senior research advisors.
