2017 marks the 10th year that there has been a global celebration of open during Open Access Week.

Organized by the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC), OA Week celebrates:

\”Open Access to information – the free, immediate, online access to the results of scholarly research, and the right to use and re-use those results as you need – has the power to transform the way research and scientific inquiry are conducted. It has direct and widespread implications for academia, medicine, science, industry, and for society as a whole.\”

This group has been created to make a space this week (and hopefully beyond!) to talk about what open means to you as a musician, scholar, student, or music librarian. There is more technological infrastructure available than ever before to allow the music community to innovate in our approaches to music scholarship, making, and sharing. How do we begin, as a community, to shape a shared vision for Open Music?
