Colin Greenstreet replied to the topic Members search in the discussion
Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years, 1 month agoI agree. Member search is cumbersome at the moment. Simple improvements, such as faceted search by A-Z and by geography would help, e.g. a single page with links to all members in US, in England, in X…; a single page with listing of A-Z.
It would also be very useful to be able to invite all followers on Academia.edu to join Humanities…[Read more]

Émilie Pagé-Perron started the topic Members search in the discussion
Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years, 1 month agoI would add filters to search in people, maybe from tags on their papers or based on their interests.
Also importing contacts from other social media and academia.edu

Christopher Long replied to the topic Embedding Capacity for CORE ala Scribd in the discussion
Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years, 1 month agoI’d be interested too in knowing if others would use such a feature. It is probably worth considering a variety of ways we could facilitate access to material in CORE. Embedding on the websites of individual scholars is one possible way to drive more readers to the work stored in CORE.

Colin Greenstreet started the topic Analytic availability in the discussion
Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years, 1 month agoWhat is available and what is planned in terms of an analytics package? I’m not making a request, since I suspect your feature development queue is already excessive, but I am raising a question.
The most useful innovation I have seen in Academia.edu in the last six months is the introduction of improved analytics. Specifically, it is possible…[Read more]

Nicky Agate replied to the topic Embedding Capacity for CORE ala Scribd in the discussion
Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years, 1 month agoThis isn’t a request we’ve had before, @cplong, but it certainly sounds interesting. We’d be keen to know if others would also use such a feature. Thanks for the suggestion!

Nicky Agate replied to the topic Document import feature in the discussion
Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years, 1 month agoWe will be investigating ORCID integration as an option in 2017 as part of the next phase of CORE development. More TK!

Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years, 1 month agoThis is a really good suggestion. Thanks, @titusstahl. We’ll add it to the development queue.

Titus Stahl started the topic Add language field to uploads in CORE in the discussion
Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years, 1 month agoNot all publications are in English. It would be great if CORE recorded the language of the uploaded document as one of the metadata fields.

Titus Stahl started the topic Add publication title as HTML page title in CORE in the discussion
Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years, 1 month agoIf you go to a deposit page (like: https://hcommons-staging.org/deposits/item/hc:10075/), the HTML title of the page (which also is used for bookmarks and by search engines) is just (“Item – Humanities Commons”). It would be better for SEO and bookmarking purposes to include the actual title of the publication in the HTML.

Titus Stahl replied to the topic Document import feature in the discussion
Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years, 1 month agoOther options would be Google Scholar and ORCID. ORCID has a sort of API, I assume, so that might be the most straightforward (as you already ask people to enter their ORCID IDs).

Titus Stahl started the topic Allow article uploads to be differentiated according to status of submitted doc in the discussion
Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years, 1 month agoWhen I upload an article, it would be great if I could select whether the document is the pre- or post-review authors’s version or a pre-print. In the former cases, displaying the link to the published article (that cannot be uploaded due to copyright issues) would be very useful.

Titus Stahl started the topic Include university and position in follower mail notification in the discussion
Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years, 1 month agoWhen someone follows me, I get an email (which is what I want!). But if I don’t recognize the name, it would be great if the university and position of the person following me would also be included in that mail.

Titus Stahl started the topic Sort publication list in profile according to categories in the discussion
Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years, 1 month agoAt the moment syllabi, articles, etc. are listed in the profile sorted by upload date. It might be more useful to have them sorted according to type, under different headings, like this
Books
….
….Research articles:
….
….Syllabi
….
….Often, it is not evident from the title that something is a syllabus, so…[Read more]

Max Marmor started the topic Document import feature in the discussion
Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years, 1 month agoIt would be wonderful (albeit lazy) if one could import documents/publications from one’s profile on (say) Academia.edu, Mendeley and ResearchGate. Any hope of that?

Christopher Long started the topic Embedding Capacity for CORE ala Scribd in the discussion
Feedback and Feature Requests on Humanities Commons 9 years, 1 month agoI would love to use CORE to embed pdfs into my own personal website. Right now I do that through Scribd, but I don’t want them monetizing my work. I’d rather fill out my CORE repository and embed the documents directly from CORE. The Scribd embedding tool is excellent, and ultimately that is what is keeping me there. I’d use CORE to embed my pa…[Read more]
