Group Therapy is a semi-immersive musical that provides safe space for those who don’t regularly have access to psychotherapy sessions. Whether it be forms of psychotherapy or information about mental health management, lack of access becomes even more pronounced among people of color, people who are low income, and people in more rural areas. “Group Therapy” provides audience members with tools to identify and prevent isolation tendencies and coping mechanisms, using a semi-immersive setting to create lived experience. Audience members are invited into the session as participants and are allowed to take part in various exercises alongside the company of actors. In doing so, participants alternate between witnessing the psychological journeys of the performers and witnessing their own internal workings.
