This newspaper article examines the history of the teamsters that operated on the Yerranderie Road between the Yerranderie silver mines in the Burragorang Valley and the railhead at Camden NSW. The carriers’ teams of horses supported an ecology of farmers growing hay and corn for stock feed, blacksmiths at The Oaks and Camden, horse breeders, wheelwrights, wagon makers and many others. Their memory is commemorated by a memorial in John Street Camden NSW, which celebrates their contribution to the district’s industrial and mining heritage. This transport infrastructure was supported by a daily mail coach between Camden and Yerranderie through the Valley and the hamlets and villages along the road.
