Novel has created as many forms as the novels have been written so for. Starting from realism it has went through a lot of transformations and adopted or invented generic techniques to narrate almost everything human. In Urdu, novel usually concerned more about the social life and social change it depicted. By maintaining a liquidating equilibrium between form and content, Urdu novel has forged subjects of modernization vis-a-vis orthodoxy at the same time. This article analyses an Urdu novel of Sughra Humayun Mirza. The female novelist used her text to expand the social space of women. She incorporated contemporary disciplines and knowledge forms to educate the little and a few literate females readers. Her logical and up-to-date style of thinking make her text impressive. She presented arguments for the female education and answers the fears of male objectors of female education. This article shows how the novelistic form was used to educate, liberate and opening new horizons of disciplines for Muslim females without very much threatening the prevailing cultural norms.
