Jacob Heil deposited An Intro to DH: Lab Series Two, More Writing for Computers on Humanities Commons 3 years, 5 months ago
The outline for the second module in An Introduction to Digital Humanities, a course I taught annually at the College of Wooster between 2017 and 2022. The assignments provide a scaffolded approach to introducing students to the scripting language, python. Students begin to explore the logic of programming through tracery, a scripting language for that processes JSON and that is the basis for Cheap Bots, Done Quick (CBDQ). We then create the same bots using python. Through practice, students come to understand the importance of syntax and they develop a “reading knowledge” of python; programming proficiency is not the goal.
