Spanish abstract: ´El Gran Diseño´, libro de Stephen Hawking y Leonard Mlodinow (Bantam, 2010) se propone responder científicamente a algunas cuestiones que en tiempos pasados se explicaban mediante mitos de creación: por qué existe el universo, y por qué es como es. Nos centramos aquí en una de sus propuestas más controvertidas, la teoría del multiverso y de la realidad multitemporal, una noción favorita en ciencia ficción antes de pasar a algunos negociados de la cosmología actual. English abstract: ‘The Great Design’, a book by Stephen Hawking and Leonard Mlodinow (Bantam, 2010) tries to provide a scientific answer to som questions which in the past used to be explained through creation myths: why does the universe exist, and why it is the way it is. Here we focus on one of the book’s most controversial proposals, the theory of the multiverse and of multitemporal reality, a notion which has ben a favourite in science fiction before it was adopted in some departments of contemporary cosmology.
