Spanish abstract: La cibernética, la neurología, la semiótica y la narratología han de emprender conjuntamente el estudio interdisciplinar de la consciencia entendida como la circulación retroalimentativa compleja entre distintos sistemas y circuitos cerebrales—así como entre distintas modalidades de representación en el cerebro. Se entenderán así mejor tanto el origen como la función biológica y ecológica de las representaciones, planes y narraciones, y la naturaleza emergente de la comprensión.

English abstract: Cybernetics, neurology, semiotics and narratology must cooperate in the interdisciplinary study of consciousness understood as the complex feedback circulation between a number of different cerebral systems and circuits—and between different modes of representation in the brain. This will lead to a better understanding of both the origin and the biological and ecological function of representations, plans and narratives, and of the emergent nature of understanding.
